I'm a crazy Mary Jane Shopalcoholic and I know I'm not the only one. Being an all time online shopping manic, mostly for shoes (Mary Janes, my favorite), I thought I'd help fellow shopalcoholics to choose a nice pair of Mary Janes with some tips to what to wear. While many online stores sell Mary Jane shoes, (and they clamor for our attention all the blogosphere) there are only a few sites that give us recommendations and suggestions for our likes. So I'd fill the gap here.

With more than enough posts out there on What are Mary Janes? Why are they popular?, let me keep myself away from that bla bla bla and start on how to choose one for your style. The main problem with selecting Mary Janes comes with the variety of styles that they come with. There are more than 10 varieties of Mary Janes and it's not just a matter of selecting one out of this ten. Hundreds of models for each variety and multiply that with the growing number of countless shoe manufacturers. I feel dizzy with numbers!

Mary Janes Selecting Tips

So the best way to select a pair (and not to feel dizzy) that matches your style is to narrow down your search. That is, first narrow down your look out for Mary Janes, say from 10 varieties to 2 or 3. Mary Janes have evolved a lot and now there are more styles and varities in it. Here is a list of them with a short (very short, indeed) 'when to wear' description.

Mary Jane Sneaker - dressy and cute enough for any informal occasion

Chunky High Heels - for girlish ambience and fun, flirty and funky look

Platform - funky sophistication suitable for any formal and informal occasions.

Wedge - show your skinny ankle even thinner and looks clunky

Open toe - modern look suitable for any formal occasions

Pumps - for a lady-like charm and home-like comfort

Sporty - to team with outdoor or sporty workout attires

Loafers- Style and comfort come together

T strap - trendy and adjustable fitness

Mules - for night outs and evening walks

Pointed Toe - for a sexy look (add this with red color)

With each of these styles serving a different purpose, choose any 2 or 3 styles based on your need. Say, you want a "fabulous and fantasy arousing look which will do well in night outs and also in evening walks", choose Mary Jane Mules. Or go for Wedges for a Cosmopolitan look.

I personally prefer Platform Mary Janes, as they go well with both informal and formal events. Also they give me an "extra" height, without costing much on my archs (as greedy as Stilettos). So when you bring your search to 2 or 3, look for sites that show filleted products for these varieties of Mary Janes. I call this vertical searching. Now you don't look for extensive catalog but look for intensive catalogs in your choice of Mary Janes.

In vertical search, look out for various traits like Top Mary Jane Mules, Economic Mary Jane Mules (assuming that you are looking for Mules variety). I do look for low cost Mary Janes, at time, but don't down too low making your purchase void. Here is what happened to me. Once I was searching for some cheap Mary Janes and got fancied by the term "Chinese Mary Jane" costing only some 10$. With no second thought I ordered it. The manufacturer claimed it as the "only one" that a women would like to wear. When I got my them delivered at home, I found it smelling too much of turbentine and too uneasy to wear. Though the product was just a throw away price of some 10$, I'd not ask my readers to test it. So do look for Janes for some considerable rate. Remember that Quality always comes with a price.

Do you love mary janes? Sounds so silly! Who won’t love these shoes? If you are the one who is not in love with these impressive shoes then surely you might be thinking what’s special in these shoes that flatter everyone (I mean girls and women)? Isn’t it? Well, Mary jane shoes are so impressive and eye catchy that many girls and women are crazy about them (Even me too).

Earlier Classic Mary Jane shoes are designed by keeping the school children in mind. They became very popular among school girls with in a short span of time. Previosly, by mary jane one can define it as a buckled strapped shoe with a low platform heel and broad round toe. But that is not the case now.

The extreme love for these charming shoes laid the carpet for designing them in various models with different hues, cuts, perforation, heels, toe types etc that women and girls can’t stop loving them more. Now one can get these shoes in the hip hop styles ranging from mary jane chunky high heels to loafers to sneakers (Great! Love can make such huge differences). They are now no more restricted to home or school or casual wear alone but they are even carried to parties, office, and sometimes even wedding. Women went so crazy about the glamorous shoes that you can find them wearing mary jane loafers and mules to office too.

Day to day this maryjane mania is increasing in this fashion conscious society. They became the must-have-shoes in girls and women’s wardrobe. The main reason behind the growing love for these astounding shoes is that they are a blend of comfort as well as style. One can enjoy the extreme comfort paring them and even can enhance their beauty.

You might be almost clear now that why and how much girls and women are crazy about maryjanes. The love for these flirtatious shoes gone to the extreme level of craziness that Fergie, a famous singer penned song to commemorate her crush for these beautiful shoes. Sounds crazy!

The above lines I have taken are lyrics of the song of maryjane shoes that impressed the hearts of many young feminas. Isn’t it so soothing and heart touching? One can feel the essence of these lines only when they pair their beautiful feet with a fabulous pair of Mary Janes Shoes. If you have never loved these shoes then love them now, you feel the girly girl and the feminine femina in “You”.

The best sales are in shoe stores. Shoes are the easiest items to sell to a women. We love them, it's genetic. Shoes are definitely my best friend. They make me feel every emotion, the good ones and the bad feelings. Elation when I find a pair of designer shoes at for more than half off and they are my actual size. Feelings of prettiness, cute, sexy, energetic, all emotions that my various shoes make me feel. Then there is the pain, the discomfort, the struggle because they are soooo cute, but killing my feet sort of pain. I work in the shoe industry and it's a dream come true. So many shoes not enough days in the year.

BOGO of for those of you that are not shopping junkies "Buy one, get one free". I feel my wallet jumping into the sales person's hands. Shoes everywhere. I love shoes, they always make me happy. No matter what I ate the night before my shoes always fit.

Fall shoes $30, boots $40 and Handbags are $75, wow great reductions. Originally priced at $110, $285, $230 respectively. This is as good as a nice piece of chocolate (I will reflect upon that another day). I cannot tell you how many shoes I have; I lost count over the years. I have been working for a shoe company for 5 years now. Every week there is a new shipment of goodies, I don't know but maybe I average about 100 pairs a year (not including the 16 pairs I bought at the bogo sale-that is a $1520 savings), and that is just from the company I work for.

The Math:

16 pairs of shoes @ $110 each = $1760

Buy one get on: 8 pairs of shoes @ $30 each = $240 (remember the other 8 are free)

$1760 - $240 = $1520 Now that is impressive

Bags and shoes..Ahhh accessories. They change the look of any ensemble. Heels, flats, wedges, pumps, slingbacks, mules, slides, thongs, dorsay, ballet, knee-high, espadrilles, stilettos, driving mocs, loafers, stacked heel, kitten heel, platforms, leather, suede, linen, canvas, patent. Some people count sheep, I count shoes.

All my favorites in various shapes, color and sizes. Beautifully arranged by style, one shoe faces out and the other the heel faces out. I always set them up for the ideal view.

So I guess you can say I have been bit by the bug. The SHOPPING bug. I have never walked by a pair of shoes with out at least giving them a once over. My motto is pretty feet equals a pretty mood. From head to toe I want to look my best and the shoes are the best way of expressing myself. So put away the bug repellent, I prefer to have shoes and shoes shopping as my drug of choice.
